In the Deep Woods, #12

I love the redwood forest, I really do. The redwoods are striking for their height and majesty, but they are also striking because they allow the rising or setting light to peek beneath their boughs and reveal the beauty of the deep woods. This photo, taken in Purisma Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve in Northern California, reveals the early morning's rays highlighting an otherwise innocuous fallen tree branch, making it the subject itself of an image every bit as striking as the redwoods' majesty.
