Half Dome, From Olmsted Point

Yosemite National Park is an amazing visual treat. As a kid living on the East Coast, I used to watch Disney specials that showed Yosemite and I thought to myself, "I'll go there one day!"

And I did.

Olmsted Point is an overlook in the High Sierras named after Frederick Law Olmsted. It's one of the most beautiful places in the park, and reveals a striking view of Half Dome's west face as the sun goes down. I was fortunate enough to find this view on an autumn evening. My favorite part is the pine tree silhouetted as a tiny outline against Half Dome's enormous face -- such beauty!
